These cartoons could come from any of the above years, during which Palestinian uprisings were met with grossly disproportionate responses by the Israeli armed forces.
A quick google news search of "occupied territories" shows, though, that not many American news agencies are using that term anymore in response to the Palestinian lands.
And there haven't been many wire photos this year showing IDF members wielding bobby sticks, that woud rule out a). So that leaves the rest of them pretty much available.
But if you guessed e) 1988, you win! I'm not sure what you win, other than the incumbent sadness that comes with understanding history and the maxim that "the more things change, the more they stay the same."
All these cartoons come from a book I pulled from my library last night. After a long night studying for law school finals, I wanted some cartoons to go with my soup. So I grabbed Best Editorial Cartoons of the Year, 1989 Edition, edited by Charles Brooks, from the shelves.
As I perused the pages, I was blown away how these cartoons applied to the situation today, even though they were drawn a generation ago. Do we still even see this kind of commentary on the editorial pages today?
I could very well be wrong. Other cartoons in this book struck as pertinent today, so during the next couple of days, I will be posting other work from this book, and one from 1991, as kind of an easy reading - I'm studying for law school kind of blogging.

(and don't study the cartoons too hard, because the artist signs their name with the date...)
