This drug is usually taken on an empty stomach between a half hour and an hour before you eat your breakfast. It should be taken with a full glass of water and should be swallowed whole. http://the40yearplan.com/?p=737#comment-1579 Thom is exactly right. He said he would not build anything on the backs of the taxpayers, city or state. If Hartford is such a desirable location for incredibly rich developers–like Centerplan–and sports team owners–like Josh Solomon, then they have to risk their own money. As of yet, Centerplan hasn’t really spent anything, and has pushed back the start dates for the housing/retail component of DoNo. Now why do you suppose that is? And Solomon has absolutely no skin in the stadium game, yet by the contract the city signed with him, he reaps all the profits. Fool us once, twice, three times…until we’re out.

http://the40yearplan.com/?p=737#comment-1578 To obvious stuff: I believe you may misunderstand Judge Killian’s alleged statement that he would build nothing. What I believe he has said is that he would not support using City, and therefore subsidized, dollars and resources to build massive projects which inherently are economically unsound since they depend solely for their existence, not on investment driven development dollars, but on “free” money from the government. He has repeatedly said that government subsidized stadiums, apartments and anything else are, by definition, not based upon market-based, demand-driven economic fundamentals, and therefore do not have an underlying, independent basis for sustainability because they must depend on money from the government to build them and historically keep them “successful”. Capital projects built on solid economic fundamentals, AKA major infusions of private capital, are what the City needs for lasting economic growth. Building a stadium, for example, which private enterprise has not seen the demand for, and therefore will not take the risk and amass/borrow the capital to build, can not sustain itself without initial and endless public subsidies, and that is not a feasible method to establish long term economic growth of anything, much less a City.

http://the40yearplan.com/?p=737#comment-1577 The candidate you are supporting proudly proclaims he would “build absolutely nothing in Hartford.” Gee, that’s a f*cking brilliant pledge, promising to keep the city dying. This would be great for the mayor of Berlin or South Windsor election where mindless suburbia rules, but this is the capital city for crissake

http://the40yearplan.com/?p=737#comment-1576 Kenny–thank you, thank you, thank you. You’ve outlined the situation perfectly. Bill Shannon is right: When Bob has served two terms, and has made great strides in turning this city around, I can see him passing you the baton as you become mayor of Hartford in 2023.

Myself I favor civil service regionalizatoin with large enough regions with a half-dozen full time staff, so there is a career path and backup. But it took several years to choose, plan, and execute Probate consolidation. A slow deliberate approach, starting with a commission to recommend a better system is where to start. And down the street at the General Assembly we also have to be concerned with knee-jerk reactions for the State based on officials just not doing their jobs in a couple of towns out of 169 in each election. We have heard calls to turn elections over to town clerks across the State in time for this year’s election or let Hartford and other towns appoint single registrars just as soon. Unfortunately, it takes time to learn election administration and also how to recruit and train the others needed to help.

http://the40yearplan.com/?p=626#comment-1567 I have to correct one thing I said. I either read an article incorrectly or it was not correct in the 1st place. My understanding now from others who were there is that in fact, citizens were stopped from the opportunity to register and vote at 8:00pm, even if they were in line before that time. If so, then the officials followed the Secretary of the States directive.

When I make a mistake or the system fails voters while I am an official, I apologize. When its my fault I promise to do better next time. The Hartford registrars quoted, only complain and provide excuses.

Comment on Requiem for a Responsive Local Government by Thom Page http://the40yearplan.com/2014/10/requiem-for-a-responsive-local-government/#comment-1564 Thu, 16 Oct 2014 14:53:19 +0000 http://the40yearplan.com/?p=622#comment-1564 Thanks Ken. The arguments were logical and clear, and I have always somewhat doubted the validity of the always-present conspiracy/corruption theories attached to those we elect to analyze our problems and make the decisions concerning same. I am left with the petty reality of the strength and comfort humankind finds in following and not leading – taking the easy way out in believing what is plausible and not questioning that which we do not understand. Hopefully a brighter day awaits Hartford, say 11/3/15?
